Pink Aesthetic (Gum Aesthetics)

Operation

Aesthetic gum treatment can repair a lack of gum tissue through tissue sculpting or extend the tooth with crown lengthening. These two procedures are recommended for patients to improve the appearance of their smiles with minimally invasive techniques. Tissue sculpting is performed using a microsurgical technique that is minimally invasive. It repairs gum recession often without the need for a tissue graft. Crown lengthening exposes more of the tooth for patients who have a gummy smile. It will balance the gum tissue and teeth by reshaping gum and bone tissue.

Reasons

The conditions that affect the tissue surrounding the teeth (gum and bone) are not limited to infection: in many cases, patients present with problems of an aesthetic nature. Often, teeth are small in relation to the amount of gum visible when the patient smiles.

Candidates

Most patients who have a gummy smile are considered a good candidate for gum sculpting. A gummy smile is usually caused by an overgrowth of gum tissue. It can also be caused by the natural position of the jaw. Additionally, a gummy smile is often the result of medication side effects.
